Yves Klein

When I was in my early teens I went with my mother and art student brother to an Yves Klein exhibition at the Tate. It made a big impact on me. You really have to experience the paintings in the flesh to appreciate the intensity of the colour. It is a great shame that Tate Modern's only Klein has to be see behind perspex; I assume this is because some people were tempted to touch the wonderfully velvety surface. Klein used a special formualtion of paint so that it retained the intesity your get from raw pigment, he patented this as International Klein Blue.
